Adrian Chan Design & Research Office (ADRO) is an award-winning, critical interiors practice. The studio sees physical, economic, and societal limits as opportunities for investigation and experimentation. The design process is evidence-based, while the style is minimalist with an international, contemporary flavor.
Their team of collaborators have completed both commercial and residential projects in the US, Hong Kong and Japan, all of which are informed by the human condition, history and local and international contextual narratives. The studio's work has been featured on Dwell, Design Anthology, Interior Design Magazine, Frame, Fast Company, amongst other renowned publications.
Prior to founding the studio, Adrian held positions at international architecture and hospitality design firms Hirsch Bedner Associates/HBA, Rockwell Group and Cannon Design where his experience covered 5-star hotels and resorts (Waldorf Astoria, Hilton), luxury single/multi-family homes, offices, and university buildings. He has an M.S. Interior Design from Pratt Institute, G.D. Interior Design from Chelsea College of Art (University of the Arts London) and a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania.
We establish our vision for the project based on an in-depth interview with the client and a review of the site. We also offer some initial ideas based on the findings.
Once the project is commissioned, we prepare a conceptual presentation showcasing our design stance and initial ideas. At the end of this phase, we provide you with a visual direction for the look and feel of our designs using a selection of images and materials.
Through the initial site visit, we take note of existing conditions and make precise measurements. If you are unable to provide drawings of the existing conditions, we will produce a complete floorplan.
We then develop schedules listing out all details regarding finishes, fixtures, and equipment, and provide comprehensive drawings of all construction items. We may provide photo-realistic renderings to give clients a clearer impression of the final outcome.
A full set of documentation is developed for construction purposes. The finishes and fixtures schedule are both finalised and issued in conjunction with the construction drawing package.
ADRO provides support to ensure the price and proposed design outcome meet the expectations of all parties. We may also oversee contractor bidding. Once contractors are decided upon, we provide assistance through the construction process to ensure the outcome is as designed. We collaborate with suppliers and consultants, review shop drawings, and respond to queries as required. We schedule regular site inspection visits and quality control checks at the end.
Finally, we move on to the curatorial phase (which may commence earlier), where we select furniture and decorative lighting. We provide plans and a list of items to complete and complement the space along with a schedule nominating product name, manufacturer, finish, size, price and lead-time. We will then place orders, procure items and oversee delivery, or pass on the information for clients to purchase themselves. ADRO can include accessories and artworks upon request of the client.
We are always on the lookout for exceptional talent. Please contact info@adroffice.com for job-related enquiries.
